I will try to talk at length about why I like these people. A few are sort of obscure. Otherwise, Amazon, with a few exceptions, is probably the best source of info about these writers, at least what they've written about. I haven't exactly stuck to the paragraph above but I thought I'd link to some blogs written by some of these authors as I find them....ONLINE...
I love getting their catalog every fall. Rose Marie Nichols Magee writes all the descriptions of their herbs and seeds that remind me of being at a nursery with a very knowledgeable and friendly person helping you as you shop. I love this lady!
This is a good organic supply company, the real mccoy.
mostly live plants, the best packed I have bought. Excellent selection of herbs, butterfly bushes, just great stuff for very cheap. Look for their specials.
I get hardware here as well as poison ivy prevention stuff. Great selection of Felco pruners. I am left handed and can never find them in stores. Also the cheapest I have seen
...LOCAL...
Home Depot, Lowes located all over town
Michael Bros Nursery 47 Michael Road Cheswick
Garden Dreams 812 Holland Avenue , Wilkinsburg
McTighe's Garden Center RR 8, Glenshaw
Pittsburgh Farmer's Markets all over town - This sounds weird but you can get gardening stuff at the farmer's market. I've bought bales of straw, compressed chicken shit pellets to fertilize, many fine herbs, and vegetable plants. You can also get garlic bulbs to plant too.
Trader Joe's - hey, it's a chain, one location in Pittsburgh at Eastside Village -This place has a lot of weird herbs at reasonable prices. The selection is pretty erratic but I always check it out.
I buy lots of stuff from all of these companies. I have links for my online sources but not the local ones. Some of these places do have websites but as I posted this info I checked them out and these local websites aren't that great.
I think I oughta write a blog for each of these companies, except perhaps Home Depot or any other big box store, I mean you guys all know these right?
I'll add to this as I encounter more.
Testing testing I think it worked woo hoo!
